Backup Proxy connetions

Post by StoneEdge »

Hello

I have a Veeam physical server with Microsoft initiator.

Question:

I can only backup using LAN connections? All my backups are automatic mode, but always use [nbd]

We Equalogic Storage on VMware Infrastructure and backup to a LUN that is on the NetApp Storage.

I use two nics, one 1Gb to sever Network, and the other 10Gb to iSCSI.

I have very slow backups: Around 11Mb/s to maximum 21/s and more than 80% jobs the Target is the bottleneck.

Thank you

Did you setup the server to enable direct SAN access mode?

OK, but this does not really answer my question ;) do you see your VMFS LUNs in Disk Management snap-in of your backup proxy server?

Hi

This one: READ THIS FIRST : [FAQ] FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Sorry, but on witch section?

Because on v4/5x I had use this, but with fiber channel, and was not need to do any spetial configurations to get all the LUNs in the Management Disks.

Direct SAN Access Mode section. Although you should really read the whole FAQ, it is not that long anyway.

Direct SAN Access always required presenting VMFS LUNs to the backup proxy server. May be the drivers for FC HBA you have used before had the default behavior to automatically mount all available LUNs, so you did not have to do this manually.

Hi Gostev,

Just to give a fast updated.

Made some changes on Storage side, and right now all the LUNs are in the Management snap-in and also in the Microsoft Initiator I connect one by one to point the Adapter and the right IP address(from iSCSI)

Made some tests and now I get around 60/70 mb/s, and that I think is ok for this type of configuration.

Thank You
