Replicating 2 sites to each other

Post by mpjubbSICL »

Morning all,

i would just like to clarify how we replicate 2 sites to each other.

We have a site in Leeds and on ein Bradford. Leeds will replicate to Bradford and Bradford will replicate to Leeds. each site is its own virtual infrastructure.

Is it as simple as have a Veeam server at Bradford that pulls over the Leeds VM's and a server at Leeds that pulls over the Bradford VM's?

thanks

Hi. If only had one server at one site, Leeds for example, and Leeds went down, we wouldn't be able to fail over at the other site and then fail back.

Yes, it is that simple :) Make sure you have two proxy servers at each site to retrieve and write data to ESX(i) server.

I would suggest to install Veeam B&R at Leeds site to replicate VMs from Bradford and use Veeam backup server at Bradford to replicate VMs from Leeds. Also keep in mind that you can perform VM failover manually (using vSphere Client).

Thanks!

Vitality... you stateed
you have two proxy servers at each site
Do you actually mean one Veeam proxy at each site rather than 2 proxies at each separate site which would actually give you 4 proxies?

Thanks

I was assuming that as each Veeam server can also be a proxy server that we would be using just one server at each site.

Depends on the amount of VMs, but Vitaliy meant one proxy per site in general case.

Remember that the number of concurrent tasks per proxy is counted within each backup server independently.

Sure, I believe its less than 10 VM's. Pretty small scale deploymenet.

Thanks
