Instant Restore of single disks

Post by rf@bec »

Hi,

currently we use the awesome Instant Restore feature to start VMs directly from backup. However, in certain
cases, it's great to be able to attach VMDKs from a running Instant Restore to a ESX host without actually starting the "instant restored" VM.
(For example for restoring files from filesystems unsupported by Veeam file level restore - Novell NSS comes to mind)

Since the process:
- Starting an Instant Restore
- Clicking through the wizard
- Go to the vShpere Client, select the VM, browse the NFS datastore and attach the instant restored VMDK to the VM

is a little bit time consuming, it would be great if Instant Restore had a feature which allows selecting a VMDK from a given
restore point and attaching it directly to a given VM. (Basically automating all above steps).

I know that this would be possible by using Powershell, but I think such a feature would be a great addition to the Veeam Instant Restore wizard.

best regards,
Robert
