Post by thomlin »

Hi!

When will the application level restore for eg individual SQL Server databases be available in Hyper-V?

Hi Thomas, while we stated publicly that vPower capabilities (including U-AIR) for Hyper-V are on our roadmap, we cannot share the specific dates for any future releases or updates. Thanks.

B & R sure backup hyper V

Post by Ralphy »

[merged]

Hi all, i'm new to veeam.
So i have downloaded veeam b & r evaluation.
But I am missing the surebackup section.
Is this a restriction of the evaluation version or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Martin, am I right in understanding that you are asking about Application Item-Level recovery? Because these wizards are designed for this task exclusively and are not required for backing up and restoring VMs running on either VMware or Hyper-V.

yes that's exactly what I'm looking for. In one of your videos about v6 you mention that it's possible to recover specific emails, users and even fields from ad. I'd like to know where/how I can do this. I assume I do not need to set up a separate backup for applications and that's all included in the main backup?

As stated above, U-AIR capabilities for Hyper-V will be available in the future releases. Currently we already have Veeam Explorer for Exchange in its beta stage, which provides instant item-level recovery from Exchange VM backup files and will be available in both the free and paid for versions of Veeam B&R.

And no, you do not need to set up a separate backup to use it.

the above post is almost a year old, it's taking quite long to get those features out - are the any estimates? q4 of 2012 or q1 2013?

We keep adding those features with each release, as we promised. For example, in version 6.1 we have added Instant VM Recovery. In the upcoming version 6.5, we are adding Veeam Explorer for Exchange, which is a replacement for Exchange AIR wizard. A bit more on Hyper-V backup functionality plans here.
