Change Port Range / Data Transfer Options vbr 6.1u1

Post by Nautilus »

HI,

we are migration from VBR 5 to VBR6.1. On v5 i was able to change the Port Range for Data Transfer Option for any ESX Host.
We have 4 ESXi Host behind a firewall so i change this Prots from default to 2500-2510.

On v5 anything works fine. Now we installed new vbr Server, new vcenter and new ESXi 5.01u1 Hosts.

Now i cannot make replica between this hosts. I know i have to change this Ports, so i read the documentation and find out, i'am able to change this.

But when i look in to properties of the host or vbr proxy, i cannot see any possibilitie to change this.

What can i do now ?

Thanky for any help

These settings are applicable to "fat" ESX hosts only. Could this be your issue?

sorry, you mean. Only for ESX Host, i can change the Port change ?

Are you serious about that? Whats about ESX or ESXI host behind a Firewall in DMZ. I cannot open all Ports from 2500 - 5000. This is a security issue.

So i can see some duplicated ESX(i) Hosts. But i diddnt update any of this. It was clear new installation (just, disconnect Host, remove host, installed this with ESXi 5.01 and ass this bak to vcenter inventory).

i open a case (5218096) and waiting for support.

ESXi uses static port for data transfers. All port requirements are documented in the User Guide.

Why don't you install a dedicated Veeam proxy in DMZ to manage all your ESXi servers installed there? In this way you have to deal only with Veeam ports on one server (the proxy itself). I've seen this kind of deployment in many environments.

@Gostev
What you mean with ESXi uses statis Ports ? Yes i read the Documentation and i can see in the Docu that i can still change the Ports Page 77-78. What i am missing is option (Page 76) SSH Connection --> Advanced. i Cannot see this option on an ESXi Host properties and vCenter Properties.

@Dellock
It is not easy to install a server in DMZ. Please do not ask why, there are so much reasons.

Bevor we migrate to new Version anything works fine VBR 5.x, vcenter 4.x and ESX 4.x

Now we migrate to new Version and i want to replicate from ESX Host 1 to 2 (same ip Range no firewall between the hosts). My vcenter server and VBR server are in the same network too without firewall.
i Have a firewall between vbr (is backup Proxy) + vcenter and ESXi hosts.

Which Ports do i have open now ?

As per page 59-60 in the User Guide for VMware.
