VMware vCenter doesn't start after Veeam Backup upgrade !
Hi,
Our server hosts VMware vCenter and Veeam Backup.
After upgrading Veeam Backup from 6.0 to 6.1.0.205, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service doesn't start anymore.
The error is: The VMware VirtualCenter Server service terminated with service-specific error The system cannot find the file specified..
Could the upgrade have had an impact on vCenter ?
Any idea ?
Thanks !
Eric

Re: VMware vCenter doesn't start after Veeam Backup upgrade
Hi Eric, I highly doubt Veeam B&R patch has anything to deal with this issue, when all it does is replace a few *existing* Veeam modules and DLLs in the Veeam installation folder with the updated versions. I recommend that you Google on the error you are getting, there are plenty of blogs regarding this issue, including VMware KB article. Thanks!

Re: VMware vCenter doesn't start after Veeam Backup upgrade
Hi Gostev,
I found the solution to my problem: I forgot to mention that I also updated Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager. the installation procedure enabled the default website on IIS, on port 80 which isn't compatible with vCenter !
I disabled it and it works again.
Sorry for the post.
Regards.

Great to hear, and thanks for coming back to post the resolution, Eric.
Now that you mention Enterprise Manager, it does make sense.

Do you mean IIS service must be stopped, this allows vCenter to work,
but is there a better workaround to keep it working, and so have Enterprise Manager access ?
Thanks,
Jean-Jacques

Got it, changed IIS Default web site from port 80 to 8080.
VCENTER-vSphere client works fine
Veeam Enterprise Manager opens https://NETBIOS_Name
http://NetBIOS_Name displays vSphere welcome page
http://IP_adress or http://IP_adress:8080 displays IIS default web site page
