Hi Guys
Do not have a case id since it is a question on how to configure my backups
so here is the lay out of the site
3 Hyper V VMs
1.5TB network Drive
My backups are configured to hold 3 sets and run daily
configured as incremental
Enable Synthetic Full
Runs every weekday
Now i am getting failed messages since there is not enough space on the target hard drive
I have tried looking everywhere to find info and I did find info just not making sense to since I have never worked with Backups before
How should i configure Incremental or Reversed incremental so that after 3 backup jobs it deletes the oldest backup so hard drive never gets full
Thanks

Re: Veeam with HyperV Backup Suggestions
Hi Ali,
Given your retention policy requirements, I would suggest using reversed incremental backup mode with retention policy set to 3. In this case you will have only 1 VBK file (most recent state of your VMS) at a time. As to the forward incremental backup mode, then please look through this existing discussion for further details > Backup files not deleted according to retention policy
Thanks!

Re: Veeam with HyperV Backup Suggestions
HI Vitaliy
Thank you so much for your response
I will delete the job today and create it the way you have suggested
I have forgot to mention one major detail about the backup
Client has 5 different hard drives which they rotate every day one specified for each day (labeled)
Will the retention policy with reversed incremental backup would work in this case?
Sorry to forgot to mention this part
thanks.

Re: Veeam with HyperV Backup Suggestions
Oh, yes, that's a major one That would work, but there is one caveat to keep in mind, you will have to apply a registry key mentioned in this topic: Veeam Backup & Removable Media (rotated drives)
