Re: Backup WITHOUT vCenter
Hi, these are actually two separate questions there:
Q:Is vCenter required?
A: No, we support standalone hosts.
Q: Is free ESXi supported?
A: No, as it has some APIs locked down by VMware. The minimum VMware license level supported is vSphere Essentials.
Thanks!

Re: Backup WITHOUT vCenter
Well I'm almost two conflicting answers.
Standalone host support means that you can also support ESXi free
If I need a, essential license, I put vCenter, otherwise it is useless to buy an essential.
I have seen other backup software (Trilead) that support ESXi free .... then as they do to backup and if APIs are locked?

Not exactly, standalone hosts might not be managed by a vCenter Server, but still use a separate, paid license key.MinoDC wrote:Standalone host support means that you can also support ESXi free
I believe this topic should answer this question: Veeam with vSphere 5 Hypervisor (e.g. free ESXi) works...MinoDC wrote: I have seen other backup software (Trilead) that support ESXi free .... then as they do to backup and if APIs are locked?

Re: Backup WITHOUT vCenter
Vitaly is right... vCenter Server has always been 100% optional. And as far as actual free ESXi API lockdown status, it changes almost every other release
