An error during Instant VM recovery

Hello all who are read this.
During Instant VM recovery i have an error: "VM virtual hardware version is incompatible with target vCenter or ESX(i)."
It happens when i am trying to migrate VM ran from backup to production datastore. The problem is only with the version 9 of virtual hardware. I have vSphere 5.1 and the version of B&R is 6.5

Hello. Do you probably use Quick Migration for that? There is currently a known issue preventing migration of hardware v9 VMs that will be fixed in the next product update.

Yes, i using Quick Migration. I found a workaround for this issue. But i am not sure about it. The idea is to change the version of virtual hardware from 9 to 8 in VM's .vmx file. With this value of the version of virtual hardware i have no errors, but i don't know is it correct to change this variable like this.

It might be tricky to change hardware version in the VM config file manually, at least I haven't found any VMware comments on whether it is a supported way or not. I guess it should work if you do not use any hardware 9 specific features for this VM.
