Veeam VSS Service - Keep from Uninstalling

Post by travis.vanholland »

Is there a way to keep the Veeam VSS Service from uninstalling after the backup job runs? I have about 10 to 14 servers that say the service is marked for deletion and the only way to fix it is to reboot. Happens at random really. Seems to me like it would be more efficient to just have the service running all the time instead of uninstalling and reinstalling every time the backup runs.

Hi Travis,

No, there is no way to do that. Do you have any error messages in the Windows Event logs on these servers that could point out why it's happening?

Thanks!

Not that I could find. VSS seems to be in good working order on all of the servers that I checked. Seems like after the reboot the jobs will complete fine for a week a most then go back to the same error.

Here's a bit more background. Veeam Vss Service Marked for Deletion

Thought I would create a new thread to ask this specific question.
