Create extra back-up specific VM

Post by tyno81 »

Hi Guys,

Question, we have configured several crash consistent back-up jobs to run only once a day.
What is the best way to create a extra crash consistent back-up with Veeam for a specific VM in one of the configured jobs during the day on request?

Can you elaborate on it a little bit? Not sure whether I’ve understood your goal clearly.

Thanks.

I would like to create a extra crash-consistent back-up (before a change) of a specific VM with Veeam.
I just don't prefer to run the regular job manually because all VM's in that job will be backed-up and my goal is to only back-up one VM...

Just create a new job that only has the one vm in with no schedule so you can run when required?

If you meant that you want to backup against the original job vbk this is not an option you will have to do the above and create a new vbk

VeeamZIP functionality is likely to meet your expectations.

VeeamZIP is similar to full VM backup. During the VeeamZIP run a full .vbk file is always produced. It acts as independent restore point and can be stored anywhere you want – on a backup repository, on a local folder, on the Veeam Backup server or to a network share.

Additionally, you don’t have to specify a backup job and schedule it – the backup process for given VMs can be initiated immediately.

For doing it:

• Go to the Virtual Machine section
• Right-click necessary VM
• Choose VeeamZIP option

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
