where are my flat VMDK's

Post by dephcon5 »

I need to move several VM's from an esx box with local storage to another thats also with local storage.
Simple enough, I'll just use Veeam right?

WRONG.

The virtual disk is not there. IT WAS NOT COPIED!
With this "software" I am looking through the folders in the data stores and the biggest files are some of the log files.
WHERE ARE MY 20GB virtual disk!

I HAVE LOST 3 VM'S NOW BECAUSE I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO TRUST THAT THE VM'S WERE COPIED BEFORE DELETING THEM OFF THE OLD HOST!

George, sorry to hear that you lost your VMs, I hope you have backups to restore from.

Am I understanding it right that you are using FastSCP to copy the VMs?

There is a known issue with latest FastSCP, agentless mode, and vSphere, it is discussed in the following thread in FastSCP forum:
http://www.veeam.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1535

If you use ESX host and agent-based mode, this will not happen - only agentless mode is affected by this issue.
