Backing up Veeam VM - C drive fills up and pauses VM

There has been a support case opened for this - case # 00187891

We have a vSphere cluster configured with 3 hosts. All hosts have fibre connection to a fibre SAN. We have a Veeam backup server virtual machine, backup job is set to defaults, automatic proxy, etc.

The backup job runs great until it starts to backup itself- the Veeam VM. The C drive appears to fill up and the VM pauses itself. I cannot succesfully boot the Veeam VM back up until I delete the snapshot that Veeam creates on the vm.

The only way I've been able to get the job to run 100% successfully is if I exclude the Veeam VM from the backup job.

Logs have also been uploaded to support.

Any ideas?

Hello, can you please tell me what folder on the C drive gets filled up?

I do not know for certain. Like I said in my original post, I cannot boot the machine unless I remove the snapshot that veeam creates. Once I remove the snapshot and the machine boots, the C drive appears normal again. Our C drive is a 200gb drive with plenty of free space before the jobs run.

Prior to that, all I can see is vsphere telling me that the system drive is full.

What version of Veeam B&R are you using? The latest one, right?

Correct - latest with patch installed. 6.5.0.109
