Replicate changes to VM config

Post by patrickds »

I am encountering the issues concerning Windows 2008 R2 VMs with vmxnet3 adapters and IP address changes on the replica's.

I know about the workarounds (Windows Hotfix, set MAC as static or use e1000).

My question is: if I perform changes to the VM, like changing the network adapter or setting a fixed MAC address, will this propagate to the replica, or do I need to remove the replica, and let Veeam perform a full replication?

An article from Veeam, describes the procedure with the Windows Hotfix ( http://www.veeam.com/kb1601 ), and it states the replica should be removed.
I would like to avoid this, because a couple of the VMs are quite large and take hours to fully replicate.

Today there shouldn’t be any issues related to the described scenario, the network adapter changes along with setting a fixed MAC address will be written smoothly to the target VM.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
