I tried doing some quick searching, but I didn't find any direct answers. Are Windows 2012 servers ok as a Veeam backup proxy?

Yes, Windows Server 2012 is fully supported as a Veeam backup proxy. For the full list of supported platforms for each Veeam B&R component, please take a look at the System Requirements section in the Release Notes document that is included with your download.
