Backup of VMware w. partitions on different datastores

Post by matisse88 »

Hello,

I am just wondering if Veeam can do a full backup of a machine, where partition c is on a different VMware datastore than partition d !

I've just tried that, it shows me the correct VM total size for both partitions (872GB) but processes only until 40GB (which is the size of partition c). Then I get "All VMs have been processed" and the job finish "successfully".

Any idea whether this is a handling error or something Veeam can't do by design ?

Thanks a lot,
Martin

Hello Martin, most likely partition D: resides on an unsupported disk type (independent disk, or RDM disk). Please refer to the System Requirements section of the Release Notes document included with your download. Thanks!

Hi Anton, I'm doubting Martin was talking about two separated vmdk files, hosted into two separated vmware datastores...

There should be a corresponding message logged in the job statistics window for that VM in case of skipping one of its disks.
