Offsite Replication Issue + Full VM restores

Post by tom.stevens »

We are currnetly Setting up Offisite Replication are are running into a few Wired Issues. VEEAM 6.5

1. when were are running a Full REstore to the DR SAN, two Restores have failed, The Error we are getting seems to be that the Backup is Corrupt but we are able to do a File Level Restore

The Setup is as Below

we have a Local VEEAM Proxy running on the Same Site as the Source VM's, a VEEAM server Running at The DR Site Along with another VEEAM Proxy.

If we set in the Replication Job The DR Veeam Proxy as the Destination Proxy the Job Fails, If we set the VEEAM server as the Veeam Proxy the Job Goes Through.

the Error we get is
Error: Client error: Failed to open VDDK disk [[Datastore] Server2_Offsite/Server2-000001.vmdk] ( is read-only mode - [true] ) Failed to open VMDK. Logon attempt with parameters [VC/ESX: [VCServer];Port: 443;Login: [****];VMX Spec: [moref=vm-7262];Snapshot mor: [snapshot-8371];Transports: [hotadd:nbd];Read Only: [true]] failed because of the following errors: Failed to process [calcDiskDigestsCli].
Any Ideas?

[calcDiskDigestsCli]
According to the log provided, we can see that this issue is somehow related to disk digest calculation. So, where is your replica metadata is stored?

As a potential workaround you can go to the location where replica metadata is stored, delete all .vbk-files that are present there and see whether it helps or not. Don’t worry about them, since they will be re-created during next job run (though, the initial run might take a little longer, than usual).

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
