Veeam Replication x Backup Exec 2012

Post by brunobanfi »

Hi everybody.

I have had a problem with Backup Exec and Veeam.
After that we installed the Veeam application, all days the job backup (backup exec) failed.
The error is with VSS.

Somebody already the same problem?

Thanks,

Bruno

Hello Bruno,

Have you had a chance to contact Symantec support on this issue? Anyway, I believe you have VSS enabled in both jobs, so you should disable it in either of the solutions to make your BE jobs work.

Thank you!

Actually, Veeam does not install persistent agent or proprietary VSS provider into VMs. Symantec does, but with Veeam, VM stays "clean" of any 3rd party code other than when actual backup takes place. Veeam uses a run time process that is automatically pushed to a VM during backup, and is removed immediately after the backup completes. So, I wonder why would Symantec fail... or may be I should not wonder about this, really ;) sorry, could not resist!
