Backing up VMs on NFS storage

Post by rolltidega »

I know some of this is covered in the sticky topic but I am needing some guidance on best way to backup my VMs on NFS storage to my Data Domain appliance. I read where virtual appliance mode is best for backing up VMs on NFS. My question is regarding the backup proxies. Is it recommended to have just one backup proxy or a backup proxy per ESXi host? My current bottleneck shows source when running a backup over Network which is my current configuration as Veeam is on a physical box. I am trying to figure out the sweet spot on getting my source to not be the bottleneck any longer. Any ideas and recommendations would be great. Thanks!

If you want to use HotAdd (Virtual Appliance) mode, then your proxy servers should be located on the hosts that have connection to you NFS storage.
