Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Hello *,
I installed Veeam7 on a Windows 2012 which is hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper- V. Unfortunately Veeam v7 can see all VMs on a Hyper-V 2012, but not on a Hyper-V 2012 R2.
I had the same experience with 6.5 and thought with v7 the Problems are solved. I see only the Hyper-V but not the VMs inside, so I can´t save the VMs.
Regards
msp

Re: Hyper 2012 R2
Hyper-V 2012 R2 has not been released yet (and its release is still a few months away), and a such it is not supported by the current B&R version.
Please review the System Requirements section of the Release Notes document for more information on supported software versions.
Thanks!

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Hi guys, I have a new deployment that I might have to delay until 2012 R2 is supported by Veeam. Is this something you guys are actively working on to support? If so, could you give us a very rough time frame?
I need to know whether to build now on 2012 and migrate everything to 2012 R2 or to hold off.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
As mentioned above, the Windows Server 2012 R2 is not available yet. So, once it is, we will be able to provide rough estimation regarding time the product supports this platform. However, it’s generally recommended not to rush with the software update. Thanks.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Actually, Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM is now available for download, and we have started looking at the release code. We should have a rough estimation of support timelines in a few weeks. As I've noted before, Server 2012 R2 support is not going to be a quick and easy task due to massive API changes on the Hyper-V side, and no backward compatibility with existing API. This requires us to completely re-write, and re-test big chunks of code. Microsoft is really not helping Hyper-V 2012 R2 adoption with these kind of changes affecting every single 3rd party solution out there, but alas...

Oh, I see. I was talking about Hyper-V 2012 R2. Installing backup server on Windows 2012 R2 did seem to work for us too, although we've only done smoke tests at the moment.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
@Don sounds good, actually might be a good idea to have a limited beta, I will discuss with QC.
@Steve we are working on it, and hoping to release support for Hyper-V 2012 R2 before 2013 ends.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Hi,
in my case backup immediately fails with this error message "Task failed Error: Invalid class".
Also it is not possible to "list" the VMs in backup job-creation view.
Does anybody know if there's a trick?
Regards,
Clemens

Clemens, Veeam B&R 7.0 does not support Hyper-V 2012 R2, you should wait for the update.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
I have an outher question :
If the Hyper-V is Version 2012 and one of the VM's is running 2012R2 it doesn't affect veeam, isn't it?
I hope so...
With regards
Christian

[MERGED] is Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 supported?
Is Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 supposed as a VM Host? I am upgrading my Hyper-V 2008 R2 servers soon, and I'd like to know if I can use Hyper-V 2012 R2 or must I use 2012 RTM?

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
You cannot currently use Veeam to back up guests on a Server 2012 R2 hosts. Veeam have indicated that support for that will be added some time during this quarter, so between now and December 31. We're looking at SCDPM 2012 R2, which has been able to back guests on Server 2012 R2 hosts since it went GA last Friday.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
As we are making progress with our Hyper-V 2012 R2 support code testing, I am now able to provide slightly more precise release date than vague "Q4". We are currently looking at November for releasing support for Hyper-V 2012 R2, if nothing unexpected happens. Thank you for your patience!

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Well that makes me very happy, I hope nothing goes wrong. Thank you guys for stepping on this. I was forced into an upgrade due to timing and new hardware allocation. Need Veeam as soon as possible.

Re: Hyper-V 2012 R2 support
Most likely this issue is caused by the fact that Hyper-V 2012 R2 server is not supported yet.

@hubertsvk, same thing here. current version of 7.0 patch 1 does not support 2012R2. We are all waiting on Patch 2 which we are told will be released "soon" which I hope is days not the 30th. But there official line seems to be by end of year.

Are there any updates on the progress of patch 2 ?
I'm in the process of building large hyperv 2012 R2 clusters, and veeam is the product i want to buy to do the backups, i've been holding off purchasing until this patch is out.

Hi, Martin, and still i do not see any VMs
If rescanning operation doesn’t solve the issue, then, it might be worth opening a ticket with our support team and letting them investigate it directly.
Thanks.
