Debian 7 (Wheezy) VM on HYPER-V

Post by dockx »

Hi,

Can't find an answer anywhere so I ask here. :)

Is it possible to backup Debian guests running as a VM on Windows server 2012? If yes, how? If I try to do a backup veeam gives me follwing error:

Task failed Error: The RPC server is unavailable RPC function call failed. Function name: [HvTestConnection]. Target machine: [172.16.0.5]. --tr:Failed to check whether HvIntegration service is available on '172.16.0.5:6163'.

Is there another way to backup those guests?

Kind regards,
D.

What about other VM? Are you able to backup them up and the debian VM is the only one that fails for some reason? Additionally, since the VM doesn’t run under VSS-aware guest OS, have you tried to take an offline backup, instead of online one?

Thanks.

Job settings -> Storage -> Advanced -> Hyper-V -> Enable Hyper-V Guest Quiescense. Thanks.

Then, it’s a high time you opened a ticket with our support team, letting them investigate it directly, since virtual machine backup should work fine regardless of guest operating systems. Thanks.

An update: now the Windows VM's also fail...

By the look of things I uninstalled a component (Veeam Hyperv integration or something like that) that didn't reappear by a new install.

Will investigate this first, will keep you informed. :)

Edit: can someone check in control panel -> Programs and Features what the name is of the program below Veeam Backup & Recovery? I'm sure it was Veeam and something with integration?

Thanks!

Ok, found the solution! :)

When you want to reinstall Veeam after uninstalling Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Hyper-V Integration from your control panel you have to remove and re-add your server from the Backup Infrastructure in Veeam! This way the Veeam Hyper-V Integration will be reinstalled and all will start working again.
