Cosmetic little thing on tape mail notification

Post by tfloor »

Hi,

When you receive an email notification that the tape job has succeeded then you see:
Subject: [Success] B2T WDM-VM Windows 2008 (1 VMs)

While in the summary inside the mail is says:
Success
1 of 1 backups processed

So the thing i'm talking about is "(1 VMs)" . It is always "1" VM because B&R can't count the vm's on the tape, because it's a linked job!
So it's better when the subject changed to:
Subject: [Success] B2T WDM-VM Windows 2008 (1 Backups)
or something.

For disk backups it's working fine

Regards,
Tristan.

Tristan, thanks for heads up, I've passed this to the right person to address.

Hi,
Can you kindly add the tape Barcode Label where the backups have been performed in the report?
This is useful for customers who take the tapes offsite daily and the person ejecting the tapes does not have access to the backup server. Especially needed if the backup spans multiple tapes.

I couldn't find it anywhere in the reporting.
Thanks

Just to inform you, both requests should be addressed in one of the future product updates.

[MERGED] : Media Information in Reports/Notifications?

Post by choldings »

Can the media information be included in the tape job's reports/notifications? Also, right now the tape and backup job reports looks identical. If you don't specify tape in the job name how would you know it was a tape job?

Looks like this was already asked and answered before and I didn't see it until just now.

Hi, Colin. I’ve moved your posts to the corresponding discussion, so that we could monitor the demand for this particular feature. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I know this has been said above, but I just wanted to add a little weight to the request: Either the serial or barcode (same in my case) of the tape, or the library slot location the tape was returned to in the notification, would be incredibly helpful.

It was also explained succinctly above, but just to be clear, this necessary for our various customers who have the combination of:
1) a robotic library where various tapes might have been used.
2) no onsite I.T. staff, so an admin has to take tapes to either the courier or fireproof safe, an admin to whom we can't give access to Veeam.

Anyway, sorry for the repetition, just wanted to make sure you (Veeam) knew how handy this would be. What I'd do would be to set the admin to receive alerts, that way they could do what they needed to do without me having to manually check Veeam on each of our clients where this is necessary.

Thanks!

Thanks for including it in Patch 1.
The details provided are enough for the install I have.
