SharePoint Restore v7 - Cannt find SQL Server Service

Greetings,

I am testing the Veeam Explorer for SharePoint and when go to select my content database after I have performed the restore, I get a message in the Add Database dialog that reads: "Cannot Find SQL Server Service". I do not have SQL installed locally on the backup server since I am storing the Veeam backup database on remote SQL server. I have added my remote SQL server under the SQL Server Settings options, but that still in not working.

Is the Explorer for SharePoint needing a local install of SQL to mount and browse the database?

Well I thought it was resolved.

I installed SQL Server Express on my Backup Server thinking that would allow me to mount the database. However, when I manually attempt to mount one of the SharePoint databases I get the following error message:

A network-related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to the SQL server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to the SQL Server)

My Process is:

1. Restore Guest File from Windows
2. Click on the SharePoint icon in the Backup Browser Window
3. Mounting databdase.....attempts to mount and nothing happens
4. Click Add Database
5. Browse to VeeamFLR folder and select database to Mount
6. Click OK
7. Then the error appears.

Remote connections is enabled as well as TCP/IP for the SQL Network connections.

Could you please check SharePoint Explorer options - is there correct SQL server selected?

From what I can tell yes the correct SQL server is being inputted. I even went ahead and installed SQL Express on my backup server it attempts to get the database mounted that way, but still same error message.

Please post the screenshot of SharePoint Explorer Options screen (not Backup one).
I think the key of your problem is there, maybe you entered FQDN of localhost, which cannot be resolved by itself by any reason.
The second check worth trying will be to connect to that SQL Express server with SQL Management Studio with the same settings.

Greatly appreciate the response. I was entering in the FQDN of the local host. Once I entered in "ServerName"\SQLEXPRESS the database successfully mounted.

SharePoint 2010 is not configured on our server and I have no idea what I need to do to solve this...
Can someone explain in detail what to do on my SBS 2011 server?

You need to either add the remote SQL server under the SQL Server Settings options or install SQL Server Express locally and point Veeam Explorer for SharePoint to it.
