Best practice?

I have veeam setup to do reversed incrementals, but I don't schedule it to do a full backup every week. From the documentation, it sounds unnecessary, but I was wondering if it should be done or if doing it has any benefits like increasing performance of the backups or any detriments to like taking up more space.

A Long time only reverse incrementals leaded to some fragmentation in our backup files with v6.5 and previous versions. If you do this for years, restore Performance can be slow.
We addressed this with v7.

If you want to go the most savest way
Do Reverse Incremental with SureBackup (automatic restore checks)
or if you have not licensed SureBackup,
do monthly (depending on your backup chain) active fulls.

Personal recommendation is to do a active full after Installation of each patch or new Version, to let the chain start with new Settings from scratch.
