Replication between 2 Hosts with 10GB

Post by stefanbrun »

Hi i have following Situation:

A Replication between 2 Hosts (ESXi 5.1) controlled by Veeam B&R on a third Host.
On the 2 hosts i have each one Veeamproxy, both have 3 networks (1GB: Production Network, 10GB Red: Crosslink between Hosts, 10GB Green: Crosslink between Hosts)
On both host i added an entry in the host file for the proxy with the 10GB adress.
IP Adress you will see on the picture.
Routes you also can see on the picture.

I want to achieve the following:
1 Replication Job for Host A to replicate VMs to Host B over 10GB Red
1 Replication Job for Host B to replicate VMs to Host A over 10GB Green
So that each Replication Job his own 10GB link has.

My Problem:
Both jobs work fine, but job B to A communicates over the 10 GB Red and not over the 10 GB Green.
First i testet with only 10GB Red (works without problems), in a second Step i activated the 10GB Green.

Thanks you for your ideas.

How did you registered the proxies inside Veeam Backup Server? By name and than forcing resolution via hosts file? Have you tried to register the servers directly using the desired IP address? In this way you can be sure traffic will use the desired network. Otherwise, for the proxies both 10G link are usable...

I registered the proxies with the DNS Name. On the Host File i have an entry with the DNS Name of the other proxy with the IP adress of the 10GB Link. From the Veeam Server i have only access to the 1GB Network, so i can't access the 10GB Adresse from the Veeam Server. So i added for each proxy a route to the 10GB IP adress.
