BackupCopyJob Retention Policy

Post by timmy.olsson@nibe.se »

Hi

Just a quick question to clearify that it works like i think it does:

In the BackupCopyJob configuration, you can set the number of restorepoints to keep. You can also set the number of GFS-policy copies to save.
Is the GFS-archivecopies affected by the number of restorepoint to keep?

For example:
If I want to save a weekly copy for 8 weeks and have it set to save 5 restore points. What will the result be?

Regards

Hi, Timmy.

Nope, they are not affected by it.
If I want to save a weekly copy for 8 weeks and have it set to save 5 restore points. What will the result be?
You will end up with 5 daily restore points, and the specified number of monthly ones (as per “monthly” field value, 8 in your case).

Thanks.

You’re welcome. I’d also recommend reviewing corresponding section of User Guide (p.111), since it contains pretty descriptive information regarding how retention policy works for backup copy jobs.

Should any additional help be needed, don’t hesitate to let us know. Thanks.
