Instructing vPowerNFS to mount a backup and make available

Hello,

We would like to know how to instruct Veeam's vPowerNFS to mount a backup and make it available.

The reason for this is we would like to create our own self service restore portal. In addition the FLR appliance that ships with veeam does not grok ZFS > v23. We currently use ZFS on FreeBSD which is v28 so the file level restore appliance is not of much value to us.

Could someone please give us some pointers on how to make this work? I found the root location of the vPowerNFS mount but I am not sure how to query and instruct vPowerNFS to 'mount' a backup from its backup store.

What about using PowerShell cmdlet for Instant VM Recovery?

yes that is possible but its a lot of work for a junior admin to:

* Invoke instant recovery
* Ensure the network is deactivated
* Boot the spare tire VM
* Change the IP address
* Enable network
* Pull file off, etc

We want to automate this.

But the following 3, you would have to script yourself, of course.

What about using the new REST API that is included with enterprise+. Could this be used to assist? We will be scripting this from a FreeBSD VM, not windows.

By the way, you can also use the virtual lab appliance and masquerade the original IP of the instant recovered VM behind it. Once it's deployed, the virtual lab VM is simply a double nat router, and you can connect every VM you want to its isolated network. In this way, you simply need to create in advance a static mapping rule into the virtual lab, since I suppose the VM you recover always have the same IP. So, your task is reduced to simply the first three bullets.
From there, you invoke the mapped IP and pull off the files.

Since Restful API merely duplicates the functionality of the Enterprise Manager, and it's not possible to initiate Instant VM Recovery via EM, I would say that PowerShell seems to be the only option here. Thanks.
