Repository for Replica Metadata 20GB

Post by blackforce »

We are running Veeam 7 RTM at the moment. However the Repository for Replica Metadata currently stands at 20GB in size. This seem extremely large.

Is there a reason why its got this large? I guess I can safely delete it as per the FAQ and it will build it next time but was wondering why it got this big.

Yes, you can safely remove metadata, it will be rebuilt on the next job run (though this run will take a bit longer than usual).

Typical metadata size can be calculated as 128MB for each 1TB of VM data (per each replica restore point). If you feel that 20GB is too much for all your replicated VMs (considering their retention settings), you can open a case with technical support for investigation. Thanks.
