Enterprise Manager - Portal Customization

Post by bteichner »

In the "What's New" doc for Veeam 7, there was mention of the option for "portal customization" within Enterprise Manager. I can't find this anywhere in the documentation, or clicking around within the web interface. How do you change this?

Thanks

Hi, Brian.

It’s not possible to change the corresponding log either via GUI or RESTful API.

Though, I can propose the way it can be changed – since the header of the pages generated by Enterprise Manager is nothing but a simple picture, you can go to the C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Enterprise Manager\WebApp\img\header, find there an image that reflects your product version (St, Ent, Ent+) and replace it with whatever picture you want to.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Brian,

This is actually a very useful "feature" in the Veeam Enterprise Manager v7, IMO. We certainly hear from managed service providers, as well as regular end-users, that would love the ability to customize their portal with company logos and custom header graphics to integrate tighter into their intranets and overall company theme.

I took the above post and ran with it & generated a white paper on exactly how to do this, with some additional pointers on specifics of graphic customizations, etc..

Hope this helps,

Matt Price

[MERGED] : Customizing the Backup Enterprise Manager

Post by b.vanhaastrecht »

We have published the Enterprise Manager web portal to our vCloud customers. We would like to customize the GUI so it matches our company color scheme. I'm familiar with CSS, HTML5, Javascript and ASP.NET. I think the webapp itself resides in this folder: 'C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Enterprise Manager\WebApp\' . In the css folder i notice a template like structure.

Does anyone made any attempts to customize the portal, care to share your findings? And/or, does Veeam has any documentation about customizing/templating the portal?

Thank you for this. But I'm looking for a much more customization than just the top logo bar. I'm looking into changing the color scheme. The whole portal is build on Ext Js, which is a framework to build dynamic webpages. Veeam has customized the standard GUI with custom menu items and windows. If posibile, it would be very helpfull to me if Veeam would provide us the photoshop/fireworks images used to create the files in this folder: "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Enterprise Manager\WebApp\*". With this files I can change the color to our liking. Offcourse this would also mean changing the neccessary CSS.

I have fully customized my appearance of the portal to match our company colors and branding, I just used Stylizer to modify the CSS, this will also tell you where the location of icons and text information is, then i used photoshop to change the buttons, took about two hours, looks so much better than the Yellow, Sorry Veeam

This happens if you are coming from an upgrade to v8. Clean v8 installs have as default the new "Veeam green" design :)

Hi Matt, do you have a new link? The one above does not get me to the pdf file.

Thanks foggy. Sadly, that document is only how to change the logo, and not to perform any other customization (even to just change the menu-bar color to match your new logo).

If I'm not mistaken, most of the color schemes are present in corresponding CSS files that can be found in Enterprise Manager installation directory. I don't have console at hand, so cannot provide the exact names.

You might want to check this article describing how to brand Cloud Connect Portal (which is EM derivative).

Thanks.

Trying to change color and logo for all EM sites. Looked at https://www.veeam.com/blog/cloud-connec ... nding.html
But does not fit my needs. Is there any updated guide for 9.5 u4b?

Thanks! At VeeamON, a couple of the presenters also mentioned editing the CSS to remote the 'Items' tab from the vCloud Self-Service portal. Do you have any info how to do that?

N4ch0,

Nothing seems to have changed in the past few years. All I can suggest is play with the CSS file and see what it does. Some things worth mentioning are that you will have to reedit the CSS file every time you do an upgrade to the BEM, and making a change in one place can adversely affect the way a different part of the portal appears. After a few attempts, I decided that it just isn't worth it.
