errors emails from Veeam ONE during backup proccess

Hi

Almost every day during backup proccess, Veeam ONE monitor sends me huge numbers of emails:

- VM connection failure
- vCenter Server lost connection to host
- Primary host unvailable
- Guest disk space
- Datastore is inaccessible

I setup "Suppress" for this alarms:

Suppress when certain task is preformed:

Veeam Bakcup activity
Snapshot creation
Snapshot deletion

Also tried "Suppress alarm during the following time period"

But without any effect

Hi, Andrej.

At the first place, you shouldn’t have had these alarms at all (be it during or outside backup activities), since these are major alarms indicating that something is seriously wrong in your environment (host/datastore unavailability).

Also, may I ask you to check whether these alarms are also reported by vCenter itself? And at what time does vCenter report about them: during or outside backup activity?

Thankx for the fast reply.

I cant see this events in vCenter, only in Veeam ONE. No alarm during no backup period, only during backup and not every day :-D (I am going crazy).

Error mail for example:

VM connection failure

Hmm... seems like a network glitch or a similar issue, cause such problems shouldn't go away that fast.

Let's see what our support says why suppress period is not applied on your case, but, on top of that, can you please tell me if you see these error messages for particular VMs or they are completely random? Do you also backup your Veeam ONE server?

Veeam ONE is a physical server but its backuped (Data protector) before Veeam backup runs jobs. Not all of VMs are alarmed for "VM connection failure".

Maybe there is problem that I have setup maximum concurent tasks to 4 (Backup repository). I will try to reduce this to "2" and test.

Most of alarms arrived during backup of my vCenter VM.

I don’t think limiting concurrent tasks will help you to solve this issue. The last statement is more interesting, though.

Do you back this vCenter via VB&R? If so, I’m wondering what product version you’re using and whether Application Aware Image Processing option is enabled or not. Also, does the issue occur in the begging on in the end of the backup job?

vCenter is backuped over Veeam backup but not together with other VMs, Its backuped few hours later as others pruduction machines.

Versions:

- Veeam backup in latest version 7 same asi Veeam ONE monitor
- vCenter version 4.0.0

Application Aware Image Processing is disabled

vCenter job:

Job started at 4:00:11 AM, finished at 4:19:20 AM

first error mail from Veeam at 4:17:51 AM

Based on the provided information, It seems that the root cause of this behavior is snapshot commit operation. During this operation, vCenter loses ping, etc., as a consequence, you get a bunch of alarms coming from VeeamOne.

You can find general recommendations how snapshot commit issue can be overcome in this thread.
