Planned design

Post by jgl75 »

Hi !

Here's what I'm planning to implement in a production environment.

Only one ESXi server with 3 VMs and 1.5To of data to backup.
One Veeam server linked to a Synology DS1512+ in iScsi for local storage.
One Synology DS1512+ for remote storage (thru a site to site IPSEC VPN with 6Mbits upload speed) as a target for copy job (SMB share only).

The first copy job will be done locally of course.

I'm wondering if the full backup transformation will complete as fast as when there's a Windows server at the remote site.
My gut feeling is telling me that this will not work but I prefer to ask !

Thanks in advance !

Jean

Jean, you will need a Windows server at the remote site to serve as WAN accelerator/proxying server for optimal data transfer.
