errors for missing heartbeat of surebackup VMs

Post by odge »

VeeamOne is complaining of missing heartbeats for surebackup VMs.

I cant control what folder Surebackup VM are placed in (so I can add to an ignore list), so far as I'm aware.

Why is it now showing these VMs in this error in version 7 (but not in version 6.5)

Thanks

As far as I know there were no changes in v6.5 and v7 in terms of heartbeat alarms for SureBackup VMs. Let me ask our QC team to reproduce it. Thanks!

Haven't confirmed this behavior yet, I will update this topic once I have more details.

Matthew, can you please tell me if you've recently upgraded your vCenter Server?

Ok, thanks! I have asked our dev team to take a closer look at this and suppress all performance alarms for SureBackup VMs in the next updates.

I'm having a similar problem since upgrading to Veeam One & B&R v7. When my sureBackup job runs, I get alarms for most of the Surebackup machines it creates. ButI don't know any way to suppress these alarms.
When SureBackup creates the test VMs, it seems to put them into its own VM folder that I specified when building the Virtual Lab. But I can't find anywhere in Veeam One that I can tell it to ignore alarms for a particular VM folder.
If I had the option to exclude alarms by folder, then this wouldn't be an issue.

Most of my alarms are reflecting known issues (such as low video RAM or disk space) on my production machines. I don't need to know that the problems exist on SureBackup machines.

Dan, thanks for the feedback. We are going to address this behavior in the upcoming patch, all alarms detected on SureBackup VMs will be automatically suppressed.

I've upgraded to Veeam7R2 and unfortunately I'm still getting errors from my SureBackup temporary VMs. These errors are real, but the alarms are unnecessary. For instance, I have a machine that I normally run with a nearly full hard disk. When the SureBackup runs, I get alarms for he SureBackup machine letting me know that it also has a full disk. I'd like to suppress all VM alarms for my Surebackup temporary VMs.

What alarm do you get for these VMs? Only Guest OS disk space? Do you observe the same alarms for production VMs?

Most alarms are the same alarms I would get for production VMs (the issue really exist on production and I'm aware of them):
- Guest Disk space warning
- VM generic warning (Insufficient video RAM)

Some alarms are not the same as they are related to a VM copy or other issue (issue is not a problem with the production vm):
- UUID conflict
- MAC address conflict
- Heartbeat is missing for VM

The alarms which exist on my production machines are consistent each week, but the other alarms vary from week to week and machine to machine.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the information provided. I will ask our QA team to reproduce this behavior. If we have any further questions, I will let you know.

Thanks for the heads up!
