What transport mode do you use to retrieve VM data from the storage? Should be right after the "Using backup proxy...", in the square brackets.

I’m wondering what backup server you’re using and how easata device is connected to it. Is it connected directly to backup server (as in the case of physical backup server) or it’s connected to ESX(i) and used as a pass through device (as in the case of virtual backup server)?

Thanks.

The hard drive is connected directly to the esx esata. The disk is formatted for use in datastore and mounted in a vm or saving this.

If I get your setup right, in this case data retrieved from the primary storage and written to the target via ESXi management interface, which is throttled by VMware. Besides, storing backups on VMFS is not considered as best practice.

Btw, why is NBD transport mode used and not hotadd, which is preferred with virtual proxy?

I actually, I'll change it and see how to use a different physical server backup. I come to you for news.

I'm interested in what speed you can get if you copy to a datastore (via Datastore browser) a file with the size comparable to the size of full backup. Thanks.

You could try that and calculate the speed based on the file size and time it took to copy it to the datastore.
