v7 Patch #1 Much Faster?

Post by jlester »

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing much faster completions with Patch #1? Our nightly backups used to take nearly all night and then the Backup Copy jobs took about half the day. Since installing Patch #1, the backups and backup copy jobs are both finishing at night. The release notes don't really seem to indicate anything was changed to increase speed though.

Do you use hardware assisted snapshots?

No, we have an older HP EVA4400 that isn't supported. We run Veeam in Virtual Appliance mode with all jobs running concurrently and proxies/repositories set accordingly. We backup to a Netgear ReadyNAS 516 and then do Backup Copy jobs to another ReadyNAS 516 at another site. Nothing changed in our environment except that we turned off GFS since we were running out of space. Enterprise Manager shows the same processing rates, but the jobs are definitely finishing faster.

Must be some change in the environment... we cannot take credit for this improvement in conjunction with Patch #1.
