So I have my vSphere server on one subnet, say 10.0.0.x and one Veeam proxy and my storage repository on another, 10.0.1.x. I also have a second proxy at a second site, say 10.0.10.x Would it be better to move the first proxy into the same subnet as the vSphere server or does it not really matter? The problem I have is that the proxy at the second site seems to be getting selected to backup VM's at the primary site. I have a full gig link between them so not a huge issue but would prefer that the traffic not go over the wan. Would moving the first proxy into the 10.0.0.x (same as vSphere) fix this?
Thanks

Re: Best subnet for proxy?
Hello,
Yes, that should fix the problem. It is recommended to have a backup proxy in the same subnet as your source ESXi hosts. Also please be aware that you can explicitly select the proxy servers used by the backup job via advanced settings, should also do the trick.
Thanks!
