Unable to login to host through SSH

Post by turnerj42 »

Hi,

I just downloaded the trial of Veeam Backup. I am connecting to ESX 4. For what ever reason it won't log me in. (Get Failed to login to servname by ssh port 22, user "root" etc. (Thi is at the point of adding servers)

I have the same problem when I downloaded the Free Fast SCP. Am I missing something simple. It is the right root password as I can get it no problem with the vsphere client. And can browse to it. I feel I must just be missing something simple but feel like an idiot.. Is there something I need to turn on in ESX for port 22?

Thanks for any help.

Hello Jeff,

Root credentials are disabled by default, that's why you're not able to connect to your ESX host, please have a look at this thread describing how to enable it: Unable to Connect to ESX4

Thank you
