Veeam One v7. support for vSphere/ESXi v5.5
I´m planning to update my vSphere infrastructure from v5.1 to v5.5 , but when I recently upgraded Veeam One from v6.5 to v7 I learned that it only supports VMware vSphere 4.x, 5.0, 5.1, so the question is: How long until support for v5.5 is released?

Re: Veeam One v7. support for vSphere/ESXi v5.5
Hello Enrique,
We have already prepared the vSphere 5.5 environment. To complete full testing cycle we will need about 1-2 weeks. I believe we should be able to deliver vSphere 5.5 support this year.
P.S. based on the recent info from our QC team things are looking good even with the current version of Veeam ONE.
Thank you!

So your advice would be to wait the release of the next version/fix pack before upgrading my vsphere infrastructure to 5.5?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, that would be a preferable way, but I don't expect any issues with the current code, as new vSphere 5.5 objects (such as vSAN) are not available yet.

To update this thread - based on the recent testing (feedback from the QC team) I can say that Veeam ONE v7 is fully compatible with vSphere 5.5, so you can start upgrading your vSphere infrastructure. Thanks!

Re: Veeam One v7. support for vSphere/ESXi v5.5
Are there any release notes or docs I can have this confirmed in? About to choose 5.1 or 5.5 for 800+ VM environment. The support of Veeam v7 for vSphere 5.5 is crucial in our decission to go for either vCenter 5.1 or vCenter 5.5. And what if we go for vCenter 5.5 but leave the hosts at ESXi 5.5?Vitaliy S. wrote:To update this thread - based on the recent testing (feedback from the QC team) I can say that Veeam ONE v7 is fully compatible with vSphere 5.5, so you can start upgrading your vSphere infrastructure. And how does your advise compare to Gostev's post here: http://forums.veeam.com/viewtopic.php?f ... =45#p93230 ?

Re: Veeam One v7. support for vSphere/ESXi v5.5
Hi Gabrie,
Anton is talking about Veeam B&R which indeed required new version of VDDK (vStorage API for Data Protection) to support vSphere 5.5. Veeam ONE does not need to switch to new collection engine and existing mechanism is fully compatible/supports vSphere 5.5 out of-the-box.
There is no official document yet, but we are planning to release it with Veeam ONE v7 patch 1 which will support Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2/vSphere 5.5. This patch should be available very soon and is mostly targeted to Windows Hyper 2012 R2 and minor fixes reported by our support team.
P.S. I don't expect any issues with your proposed configuration, as both scenarios (full upgrade and mixed environment) were fully tested by our QC team. Anyway, to get an official RN stating support for vSphere 5.5, you should wait a bit, as all our tests are almost done.
Thanks!

Hi
Sorry, I misread the subject of the post. Didn't notice it was Veeam ONE instead of Backup & Replication.
Your answer is clear to me now, thx!
Gabrie

Just a last question, would your support team help me with issues on B&R in combination with vCenter 5.5 / ESXi 5.1 ?

Yes, of course, assuming you will be running Veeam B&R v7 R2

Yes, but it's not that long to wait, as it's just around the corner.

Are there any big issues with running v7 B&R on 5.5 as of now?Vitaliy S. wrote:Yes, of course, assuming you will be running Veeam B&R v7 R2
We have upgraded, and the backups runs successfully.
I'll do the update to R2 as soon as it's available of course, but our backups should still be good I hope?
Veeam ONE was updated at the same time, and works very good for now

Hi Jannis,
There are certain things that do not work and can cause job failures. If your jobs are running fine, then I think you should be good, though this deployment is still not supported.
Thanks!
