Upgrading vCenter - VM ids change?

Post by lp@albersdruck.de »

Hello everyone,

as B&R now supports vCenter 5.5 I want to update my vCenter appliance (vcsa) to 5.5.
If I do that, do the ids for the VMs change so that B&R will see all VMs as "new" or will my backup jobs work as they did before?

Kind regards,
Lars

As long as it's an in-place upgrade, the VMs MorefID shouldn't change, and the jobs should work as they used to. Thanks.

Correct, moref IDs only change on a new instance of vCenter, if registering hosts or VMs in inventory anew.

That is good to know, thanks for the answers.

I'll see if the upgrade succeeds this weekend.

FYI: the upgrade went fine, all VMs retained their MorefID.

Now I finally have access to the web console within the vSphere web client running Mac OS X.
In a few weeks I'll upgrade the hosts to ESXi 5.5 as well.
