There is no VM on host "Cluster_name"

Post by bplancic »

Hi,

after adding Hyper-V 2012 R2 cluster through SCVMM 2012 R2 to Veeam 7(with latest patch applied) and creating jobs i get the following error when I start the job:

Task failed Error: There is no VM 'VM_name' (vmID: '31eaa2bd-53ba-4ec0-b630-b4829a7700be') on the host 'cluster_FQDN' or backup agents were not installed on some of the cluster's node..

Backup agents on Hyper-V nodes are ver. 7.0.0.764 and so is B&R.

I have tried restarting B&R server. The only thing that is a bit confusing is the fact that About in B&R says version is 7.0.0.764, and Add/remove programs says 7.0.0.690.

B$R server is Dell R710 with Windows Server 2012.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Have you already tried to add this cluster not via SCVMM, but via "MS Hyper-V Cluster" option, instead? Does it make any difference? Thanks.

This is expected, due to how product updates are installed.

Yes, but I was getting errors like this:

On Server 2008R2 VMs: "Guest processing skipped (check guest OS VSS state and integration components version)" - VSS writers are all stable and latest (6.3.9600.16384) IS are installed
On Server 2012 VMs: "Unable to create snapshot (Microsoft CSV Shadow Copy Provider) (mode: Veeam application-aware processing). Details: Failed to add volume [\\?\Volume{9c9d47f9-7dd2-4fee-88c1-35ab7339a154}\] to the VSS snapshot set
Another shadow copy creation is already in progress. Wait a few moments and try again.
--tr:Failed to add volumes to the snapshot set.
--tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.
26.11.2013. 15:24:08 :: Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: Failed to add volume [\\?\Volume{9c9d47f9-7dd2-4fee-88c1-35ab7339a154}\] to the VSS snapshot set
Another shadow copy creation is already in progress. Wait a few moments and try again.
"

Everything was working great before upgrading cluster to Server 2012 R2 (from Server 2012).

This one looks like a known issue with scoped snapshots.

Tnx for suggestion but I already found that article a few days ago and applied it to one of my 2008R2 servers but with no luck :(

Then let's wait for what support could suggest after logs review.

Quick update - since I set option of "Max concurrent tasks" to 1 I'm not getting eroors on Server 2012 VMs, but the problem with Server 2008R2 still persists.
