Running out of space - new backup repositories

Post by jja »

Hi!

We have a v7 r2 veeam server with 3 iscsi targets connected for backups.
We are now slowly running out of space on all 3, and have bought a new storage server.
We're planning on sharing the new storage space via cifs and mount it on the veeam server.
Now, the issue is copying/moving the existing backup job repos. The used space for backup jobs is about 25TB as it is now.
just one of the backup jobs claims about 12TB, and unfortunately the old san it resides on is only connected via 1Gbit ethernet.

What would be the best way to migrate to the new storage space without having to stop all jobs, and copy everything, then create new repos and rescan etc?
Is it possible to have veeam do the migration while still being able to run backups.

The endgame is to be able to retire the 1Gbit san as it is way too slow for our environment.
When we are done migrating, everything will be running on 10GBe, and the performance should be a lot better.
(it's pretty bad as it is now).

Thanks!

Any other method will require full backup.
