hosts refusing connection to proxies if ssh not enabled
Hi,
if SSH is not enabled on my hosts, my jobs fail with "No conenction could be established because target host explicitly refused it" (rought translation from the original french message).
Last time i had this trouble, i started/Stopped ssh and everything went smooth. However, after last scheduled hosts update, the trick lasted only a few days.
I completely re-installed my hosts when i upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1 .
I'm up to date with VBR (7.0 R2), my hosts are updated properly. My proxies are empty shells VM dedicated to the proxy task.
I wonder what wire i cut to get this .
I have enabled ssh and set it to start/stop with hosts, and right now my backup are running, so apart from the annoying message (which i disabled), i'm fine, just curious.

Hello,
Any chances you used non-root account when added hosts to Veeam Backup Infrastructure?

How did you add your hosts to the backup console, via vCenter Server? SSH is not required to make everything work, moreover as far as I know ESXi doesn't have service console enabled by default. I believe your error message has something to do with the firewall settings. Do you have all necessary ports opened on the proxy server, backup console?

If ssh is not required for things to work i must search elsewhere, please trash the topic. I'll check everything and if still in trouble will ask support.

Start with the firewall configuration on the proxy and backup servers. If everything looks good I would suggest asking our support team for assistance.

Manually launching jobs works, i really wonder what's happenning . I'll check server activity at launch time.

Could this be an intermittent issue with the connection to the hosts? I would appreciate if you could update us on your findings.

I did not receive failure notices, could it be related to an excess of activity on the physical server running VBR ?
I have an idea, which i'll test with this night jobs.

I doubt it as the error message states that connection was refused by the target host.

Re: hosts refusing connection to proxies if ssh not enabled
I suppressed all proxies "cleanly" from console, and re-added them. Everything worked smoothly, i enjoyed my usual flow of successful backups .
