Essentials licensing issues

Post by mcorradi »

Hi all,

In my company we use Veeam Backup & Replication for Vmware Enterprise Essentials.
We are currently at version 6.5.

Our Veeam Backup infrastructure is organized in one console managing 3 clusters of 3 hosts each.
Up to version 6.5 we’ve always received a single license file covering 18 sockets so we could easily manage our infrastructure.

Now we need to upgrade to version 7 but our reseller is saying that we cannot get a single license file as before since each Essentials license can cover up to 6 sockets only.
This will create a major problem for our company since this will force to use 3 different servers to administer the clusters, losing the advantage Veeam is giving to centralize the backup management.

Reading Veeam licensing FAQ we also understood that customers currently holding licenses for more than 6 sockets will be grandfathered, so we were expecting to be able to keep on using the product as we do now.

Apparently our reseller is not able to deal with this requirement, for this reason I kindly ask for your help on this matter!

Thanks

You can either reach our sales rep via email or using local phone number > http://www.veeam.com/contacts.html

So do you think we could get a a single license file covering 18 sockets? Is this the way Veeam uses to grandfather customers with more than 6 sockets on a single instance?

We are not aware of what are the rules for this campaign. Generally speaking, we are completely not involved with anything that has to do with sales, which is however good for this forum ;)
