Surebackup Linux VM cannot detect IP address

On my Surebackup jobs all my Linux VMs show the warning "cannot detect IP address" - any ideas why?? I can ping the masquerade address from the Veeam server while they are running...

Bad VMware Tools is the only idea I have. This is where we obtain IP address from.

ah - VMware tools is not installed - I guess that's probably the issue.

Installing VMware tools resolved the issue.
