Deleting all job data without deleting the job?

Hi guys,

I'm sure this has been answered in the forum somewhere but I've looked for it a number of times and never found it, guess I'm searching for the wrong terms!

Anyway what I want to do is quite simple. Every now and then an external USB drive we're using as a backup repository gets full. Generally I just want to delete all the Veeam files on there, maybe deselect one or two VMs from the job, maybe decrease the number of restore points it keeps then just let the job run and do a complete backup. I've been doing this by deleting all the files and creating a new backup job from scratch, but can't help but feel there must be a way of doing this without having to re-create the job from scratch?

Philip, the most recommended way to save the disk space is to adjust your retention settings accordingly (i.e. decrease the number of restore points to keep).

That doesn't work unfortunately Foggy because if the repository is already full the job fails in the first minute or two. As an example I have a 2TB USB drive with a single Veeam job running to it, the disk filled so I removed almost 1TB of VMs from the job then turned the retention down from 3 days to 2. The backup job fails with "01/01/2014 19:07:58 :: Error: Client error: There is not enough space on the disk. Failed to write data to the file [N:\Veeam\My VM Backup2013-12-21T010135.vrb]." after a couple of minutes. It seems there must be a clean and easy way to get around this without deleting the job and files and starting again?

There is no way to free up the disk without deleting some backup files from it. Whether it can be considered clean and easy way, this is literally the only way. Unless of course we are talking about regular disk, and not a Storage Space volume (as the latter can be easily extended on the fly).
