capture plugin reporting

Post by werner.vergauwen »

Hi

there is no specific topic for plugin on this forum, but since I suspect I will need to use powershell to get to the data, I might as well post it here.

In our implementation we also need to back up (large) Oracle databases, for which we use the RMAN plugin. We launch the RMAN jobs asynchronously via the pre-script of an agent job. Asynchronously, because there are several DBs per VM, and several VMs. So the pre-script fires, schedules the RMAN jobs and then finishes. This way we don't have to worry about the run-time of the pre-script.

The RMAN jobs are then launched and they become visible in the console. However, up until now we haven't found a way to report on the Veeam side of things. We cannot get to the data that is visible right in front of us. We could send an email after every job, but these jobs are also used for archivelog backups, which fire every 15 minutes.

The goal is to deliver a daily comprehensive report which includes these plugin sessions. We have VeeamOne installed too, but even this monitoring marvel fails to report on plugin jobs.

So our last hope is to be able script this.

Anyone any ideas?

Hi Werner,

Unfortunately, there isn't any official cmdlet, which would allow getting plugin job sessions seamlessly.
However, you can try this workaround with .NET method.
As for the Veeam ONE matter, I passed your feedback as a feature request to the responsible PM.

Thanks,
Oleg
