Is there any way to manually run a Defragment and compact full backup file ? Is there a corresponding powershell cmdlet?
Reason I ask is we had someone add a cluster object to a job, which resulted in an addtional 15TB of space being consumed. We removed the VMs from the job, and deleted the restore points (thankfully we were on per-vm chains) .
Looking to clean up and reclaim some space from the full backup file.

Re: Defragment and compact full backup file - cmdlet
Unfortunately, not. The only thing you can do programmatically is to:
- Schedule compact/defrag to the current date
- Execute job
- Let compact/defrag operation finish
- Re-schedule compact/defrag to whatever day you want to
More or less similar concept.
Thanks.
