Feature Request "Powershell Integration for Instant VM Recovery for Nutanix AHV Backups"

Post by Mildur »

I'm trying to do a automatic Instant VM Recovery of our Nutanix Backups to VmWare (Instant VM Recovery testing).
There are commands for Veeam Agent and Veeam Image Level (vSphere + HyperV) Restore Points.
But I'm missing a Powershell Command for Nutanix AHV Restore Points.

Start-VBRInstantRecovery --> vSphere
Start-VBRHvInstantRecovery --> HyperV
Start-VBRViComputerInstantRecovery --> Veeam Agent

All three are not working for my Nutanix AHV Restore Point:

Code: Select all

Failed to process RestorePoint e1c3e9cb-73bd-4ed4-a184-6d359868ddf1. Platform type ECustomPlatform is not supported
Please develop the powershell cmdlets for Nutanix Instant VM Recovery scenarios. We don't have surebackup Jobs here, scripting the instant vm recovery can help us todo regular restore tests.

Thanks,
I‘m looking also for more equality of the various modules within the product :)

For example I find it very strange, that the parameter for the three other powershell commands are not equal for the same purpose.

Code: Select all

Start-vbrinstantrecovery -VMName
Start-VBRViComputerInstantRecovery -RestoredVMName
Both parameter here (VmName, RestoredVMName) do the same. Define the name of the vm which will be started in the instant Recovery session. But they are not consistent between the different source types. Hopefully the cmdlets for Nutanix AHV will be more consistent.

Hi Fabian,

Thanks, your feedback sounds fair to me. I also tend to find some inconsistencies in our cmdlets here and there.
I'm thinking of a way to unify things for Powershell internally to make them more convenient, for which I don't have an ETA yet.
But for further versions it's certainly worth noticing and being provident about.

Best regards,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,

are there any updates on this topic yet? We would love to use PowerShell and automate some recovery verification with that...

Best regards,
Julien

You can find an unofficial way to start Nutanix AHV Instant Recovery via PowerShell on VeeamHub (for 5.0 only):
