Req: Restore VM to different network from powershell

Post by sabofx »

Ability to specify a different network when restoring a VM from powershell

Please add this feature to:

Code: Select all

Start-VBRRestoreVM
This feature is currently only available in the GUI

I've moved the topic to the corresponding subforum. You're right in your assumption - while restoring VM via PowerShell you cannot select the network VM should be connected to. However, I think that it can be achieved via VMware PowerCLI. Thanks.

Thanks for the potential work-around.

I also considered that option. But that would severely complicate the script. As it would have to monitor the restore process and wait for it to complete, prior to having the ability to modify the network settings through vmware powercli.

If changing the destination network was made available in the GUI wizard, what would be the argument to not include the same functionality in powershell?
You already included every other option from the wizard.

Please (re)consider implementing this feature in the powershell command line.

I'm not arguing, but rather sharing a temporarily workaround. As to your request, it makes total sense - consider your vote counted. :)

Thanx! I do appreciate it.

Is posting in this forum the correct procedure for me to request a new feature?
Can you shed some light on the process of how feature requests are processed within the Veeam organization?
How would a feature request eventually get implemented?
Is anyone tasked with monitoring the fora?
Or are you perhaps in contact with the development team?

Is there anything (else) I could do to increase the chances of my request being implemented?

Correct.

Posting on forums or sharing feedback with your system engineer.

I think that foggy has already provided an answer for this question in the adjacent thread.
Or are you perhaps in contact with the development team?
Correct, team behind this community is represented by Product Management department of Veeam, so, yes, we are working in close collaboration with developers.

Thanks.
