REQUEST FEATURE - Veeam Cloud Connect (VB&R)

Post by promosoft »

Good morning,

I am writing in this forum to ask about the possibility that at some point, an API can be made that adds the digital certificate automatically to the Veeam Cloud Connect (VB&R) when the digital certificate is renewed (Every 2/3 months).

Currently, this step has to be done manually every 2/3 months.

I hope I have explained myself.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Greetings and thanks.

Jordi.

Hello Promosoft

As far as I see, such a API endpoint does not exist. But we have a PowerShell cmdlet to add Cloud Connect Certificates. Does the cmdlet work for your?

I will also note your request to add it as an API endpoint in a future version of our product.

Best,
Fabian

Hi @promosoft,

What do you mean by an API call? If you are after Powershell, please try the cmdlet Fabian shared above. If it's about REST API, noted for future versions.

Best regards,
Oleg

Hi @mildur & @oleg.feoltistov,

I knew about this PowerShell command, but it is not automated, so that it detects when there is a new certificate in the certificate manager and automatically adds it to Veeam Cloud Connect.

I hope I have explained myself... anything, you tell me.

Greetings and thanks.

Hi Promosoft
I knew about this PowerShell command, but it is not automated, so that it detects when there is a new certificate in the certificate manager and automatically adds it to Veeam Cloud Connect.
In that case you are not asking for an API. You are asking for an automatic import option.
I see challenges with that request. How would be decide which certificate from the computer store we should use? What if there are multiple certificates available which haven't yet expired? What if we import the wrong one? Your cloud connect service could be disrupted.

Maybe you can elaborate on your use case a bit more?
I assume you want to use a service like Let's Encrypt which can renew the certificate every 3 month?
Let's Encrypt can be used with scripts to create a new certificate. This same script could be extended to also add the certificate to the cloud connect server (today with PowerShell, in the future with RestAPI).

Hi @mildur,

I understand you perfectly, it is not something trivial.

I hope one day it can be implemented.

Thank you so much.

Jordi.
