Veeam Enterprise Manager and Backup Copy jobs

Post by FrankCl2 »

Hi all,

Currently we are using Veeam Enterprise Manager in conjunction with a vCloud Director site to allow our tenants create and manage their own backup jobs. All is working good and everybody is happy.

But at the moment a specific tenant wants their backup data on a second (offsite) location as well. This other (second) location would be a different datacenter on a separate network. So after doing a little research our best option would be to do a Backup Copy job to a Cloud Connect server we run at the other site. While this technically seems to be working, the problem with this is, is that the tenant isn't able to see/monitor/manage that Backup Copy job in the Self-Service Portal. This is probably due to the fact this job isn't mapped to the organisation.

Normally to map regular backup jobs to organisations we use the following PS commands (see https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/ba ... pping.html):
PS C:\PS> $job = Get-VBRJob -Name "Backup Job 1", "Backup Job 2"
PS C:\PS> Set-VBRvCloudOrganizationJobMapping -Action Map -Job $job

I've tried to do the exact same command and used the correct job name, but obviously I get an error saying this job type isn't supported. I've also tried to change the parameter Get-VBRJob to Get-VBRvCloudBackupCopyJob but unfortunately that didn't work either.

Does anybody have a clue on how to get that job visible, is this even possible?

Hope anybody can help me out!

Cheers,

Frank

Hello,
I moved the question to the PowerShell forum as it looks like it fits better there.
This is probably due to the fact this job isn't mapped to the organisation.
yes, managing backup copy jobs through Enterprise Manager is an open feature request.

a backup copy job is different than a backup job. I think you already gave the answer yourself :-)

Hello
We have designed a new Cloud Service and need this feature.
Do you already have a release Date ? Or do you know if we can realise this somehow differently?
Thanks a lot!

Hello,
no, we have no release date on this feature request.

An alternative could be to use Scale-Out Backup Repository (SOBR) with capacity tier in "copy mode".

Best regards
Hannes
